Down Home Politics Along South Dixie
I love this. I was driving up US-1 last night after work and was sitting at a light next to a vacant lot full of political signs. This one, made only of posterboard and black marker, stood out from the rest. And it has a catchy motto too - "Tell your pa and yo momma this country needs Barack Obama!" The likeness is amazing as well!

Signs - South Beach
I've always been drawn to really neat signs and advertising (especially if it's in neon). I was really happy to have stumbled upon these two on a fence south of 5th on the Beach. It looks like a small community garden.

Signs of the Times

I have always liked how classic and vintage the Gusman seems. And I love the part of downtown that it's in, it's like vintage-meets-South America. Very neat.

and people say there's no culture in Miami.... Our street signs (on the edge of the ghetto) know who famous composers are, at least! If there is a Beethoven street then I am sure there is also a Daddy Yankee Gasolina street somewhere too...

I don't even know. it just makes me laugh.

Miami Signs
To follow up with El Capitan's post of signs and neon obsession,

and Miamians wonder why we still have a Miami Vice reputation?
This is actually a drugstore and diner in South Miami that has been there forever. However I find it's terribly appropriate. (BTW I hear the food is not so fantastic)

City of Signs - Can't Keep Us Out
It happens everywhere: signs posted and no one pays any attention to them. In Miami, however, there are lots of signs and someone likes to post them where there is really no need. Take the other night for example. We were walking to go get delicious hot dogs and headed down a sidewalk which was in tip top condition when we came across a "sidewalk closed" sign. A few feet away, we came across a giant pit of darkness which had no sign posted to warn us of our impending doom. Is this Miami's way of tricking us into an early grave (literally - you should have seen the hole, could have fit at least five with no one to hear you scream), a joke or just an example of the randomness that is Miami? We documented our blasphemy towards el sign in the photos above and neglected to document the pit of darkness as that is how the city would have wanted it. Nonetheless, we survived and got our hot dogs. Awesomeness 1 Miami 0.
