For the birds

Miami is an odd city. Those of us who live here know it. Dave Barry often says in speaking engagements that Miami is trapped under a magnet of weird.

Why do I say this? Because we are a major metropolitan city, known throughout the US and probably the world. We are known for our beaches, our parties, our clubs, drugs and crime. We are almost marketed as a Vegas on the beach, but without the casinos.

So what's the point of this post? With all that, people don't realize that Miami has another side. We, here at 305, like to point out those oddities that we come across, that don't involve the mainstream stereotypes (for the most part)

This post is about one of them. Within a 24 hour period (not even, more like 18 hours) I came across all of the following:

This photo came from a friend "Alejandro" who came home to his parking space - which is reserved for him - being taken over by this rampant rooster and his hens. Adorable.

miami is strange

let's face it, miami is a weird place. this place is a mixmatch of culture, race and religion, and you will see things here you would never expect. like some guy with a goat on a leash on Collins Ave or wild roosters, which you can take as a sign of the undercurrent of santeria.

Dave Barry has been quoted as saying miami is trapped under a magnet of weirdness, and it's true. my goal with this blog is to catalogue the random strange things i stumble across as a non-native miamian....
